InfluenceMEDIUM

Family Guy's opening, Lois and Peter singing at the piano, parodies All in the Family's "Those Were the Days", a debt the DVD commentary acknowledges; Seth MacFarlane has called Norman Lear's sitcom arguably the greatest scripted program in TV history.

About the work

All in the Family

Archie Bunker, a bigoted, blustering loading-dock worker in Queens, clashes daily with his liberal son-in-law Mike while his patient wife Edith and daughter Gloria keep the peace. The sitcom brought racism, the Vietnam War and women's rights into the family living room, played for laughs and for argument.
