What influenced La casa de papel (Money Heist)

The works this one is recorded as drawing on.

Reservoir Dogs

Film · 1992

InfluenceMEDIUM

Álex Pina has named Tarantino as a major inspiration. Like Reservoir Dogs' crew known only by colours, the robbers of La casa de papel know each other only by city names, and long tense conversations end in sudden gunfire.

Inside Man

Film · 2006

InfluenceLOW

A critics' reading, not the creator's statement. The heist borrows Inside Man's method: robbers and hostages dressed identically in jumpsuits and masks, a long siege, and a mastermind negotiating with a police inspector from outside.

About the work

La casa de papel (Money Heist)

The series traces two long-prepared heists led by the Professor, one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain, told from the perspective of one of the robbers, Tokyo. The story is told in a real-time-like fashion and relies on an unreliable narrator, flashbacks, time-jumps, and hidden character motivations for complexity.
