About the work

Le Malade imaginaire (The Imaginary Invalid)

A hypochondriac surrounded by doctors who indulge him for the fees decides to marry his daughter to a physician so that treatment comes free, and is talked into faking his own death to find out who actually loves him. Molière was playing the part when he collapsed on stage; he died hours later.
