About the work

Le Tartuffe (Tartuffe)

A wealthy man takes a pious stranger into his house, signs his property over to him and refuses to hear a word against him, while everyone else watches the man attempt to seduce his wife. Banned for five years; the name is now simply the French word for a hypocrite.
