Christina Henry's novel is Peter and Wendy retold by the boy who becomes Captain Hook, from before Barrie's story starts. It keeps Barrie's furniture exactly: the island, the Lost Boys, the crocodile, the refusal to grow up, and a Peter who is charming and lethal in the proportions Barrie actually wrote him. The reversal is that the charm is read as predation. This is an influence rather than an adaptation because it does not retell Barrie's plot; it writes the years the original leaves out.
