InfluenceHIGH

Regis Loisel's six albums are an origin story for Barrie's characters, written backwards from the book rather than adapting it. Everything named is Barrie's: Peter, Tinker Bell, Hook, the Lost Boys, the crocodile, Neverland, the second star. What Loisel supplies is the before: a Victorian London slum, an alcoholic mother, and an explanation of why a boy would refuse to grow up that Barrie leaves as a fact about the world. The map already holds several works doing this to the same source (Lost Boy, Tiger Lily, The Child Thief), and this is the one that did it first. Recorded as an influence rather than an adaptation because it retells nothing: it invents a prequel to a book it assumes you know.

About the work

Peter Pan

This is a series.
