The third film, Captain America: Civil War, takes its premise from Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's crossover: a government act to register and control superheroes after a disaster, which splits them into camps behind Captain America and Iron Man. The film replaces the comic's secret identities with the Sokovia Accords.
Raiders of the Lost Ark, on which Joe Johnston had worked in special effects, was an influence on The First Avenger: a 1940s adventure against Nazi occultists that should not feel like a period piece.
